Starbucks: Compostible Cup
Starbucks is simplifying global sustainability by replacing traditional plastic-lined cups with a groundbreaking mineral-based coating. This new design, currently rolling out across Europe, features fiber lids and compostable linings that allow the entire unit to be recycled in standard paper streams or composted at home. By moving away from regional variations and plastic components, Starbucks is establishing a single, high-performance eco-standard for every hot drink served.
To anchor this transition, we created a universal graphic that will now appear on Starbucks cups worldwide. This icon serves as a clear, global signal to customers that their cup is no longer a recycling riddle, but a fully circular product. By unifying the visual identity and the material science behind the packaging, we’ve helped turn the iconic Starbucks cup into a streamlined tool for environmental change.
